Junior section

The health and future of any Golf Club can be gauged by the potential and enthusiasm of its younger players.  Sittingbourne Golf Club has been fortunate, over recent years, to see many talented players come through its junior section.  Several have gone on to play on the Professional Tours, both in Europe and the United States, whilst others have won National and County honours.

Much of this success can be credited to John Hearn, Club Professional, who has coached and encouraged the Juniors, through both group and individual lessons. Free coaching sessions are provided to Junior Members throughout the summer holidays, with these being funded mainly by the adult Membership.

Colin Magson, the Club’s former Junior Organiser, worked with the Junior section for many years, arranging competitions and matches against other local Clubs and also ensuring that there is a structured, friendly atmosphere in which young players can improve. Colin is the first to say that without the help and support of the adult membership the Junior section could never have been so successful.

The Junior section plays most of its competitions and matches on Saturday afternoons and Stella Dyson is always available to co-ordinate these events.

Junior Memberships are available from the age of 7 and, subject to acquiring a handicap, offer full 7-day membership rights, as well as entry to many Club Competitions.
